Recruitment − Assessing Your Interviewing Strategies

Managers and HR people generally spend time preparing and planning how best to assess candidates when they have a position to fill; at the very least, they consider what they want to ask about in the interview.  But they don’t always follow up by assessing the efficacy of their approach.

It’s important to ensure that the interviewing strategies you use are actually achieving their purpose.  One way to do this is simply to assess, six months or a year after hiring, how well employees are actually doing, compared to expectations and to what you were looking for at the time of hiring.  If there are gaps, a look at the hiring strategies used may explain the mismatch, and may suggest how improvements can be made for the future.
